The latest Estimated Use of Water in the U.S. report from the USGS has just been released, showing the continued decline of water withdrawals across the board. U.S. water withdrawals are at the lowest levels since 1970 and down 13% since 2005. Public supply withdrawals also declined for the first time since reporting began! The NYC DEP's Hotel Water Conservation Challenge helped 11 hotels conserve water, and 4 participants achieved at least a 5% reduction - resulting in 11,300,000 gallons saved. NYC has shared a new Hotel Manager’s Guide to Water Efficiency, produced with help from AWE, which offers tips for conserving water in guest rooms, common areas, food service, laundry and pool operations.
